The batting of both the Bangla Tigers and the Northern Warriors was a mirror image until Andre Russell provided a flicker of hope for the latter.
But that was snuffed out by David Wiese, who snapped up three wickets, two off consecutive balls in the final over, as the Bangla Tigers eked out a six-run win in their second Super League game of the Aldar Properties Abu Dhabi T10 League on Wednesday night. Earlier, the Bangla Tigers were left reeling after a decent start that was given by their openers Andre Fletcher and RIlee Rossouw at the Zayed Cricket Stadium.
The pair, who have had a couple of decent stands between them, came up with another, this time a 46-run alliance. But then, Chris Wood made the incision and Rayad Emrit and the other bowlers turned the knife. Fletcher and Rossouw sparked their way to 22 and 21 respectively with the former striking two boundaries and a six, while the latter knocked three boundaries.
But Wood had Rossouw caught by Chris Green and soon after Fletcher too joined his opening partner in the dug-out after a dismissal had West Indies written all over it. He was caught Nicholas Pooran off Emrit.
Colin Ingram and skipper Thisara Perera and David Wiese all fell for a meagre score and it was left to Robbie Frylinck to shore up their dwindling innings. The South African veteran coshed three sixes and four boundaries en route to an unbeaten 36 from 12 deliveries.
Emrit picked two wickets for 16.
