New York Strikers recorded a victory by 27 runs over The Chennai Braves in the Abu Dhabi T10 2022 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Thursday. Despite the New York Strikers posting only 99 on the scoreboard, their bowlers bowled brilliantly, restricting The Chennai Braves to 72.
The Braves won the toss and elected to field. Paul Stirling hit consecutive boundaries off Patrick Dooley’s first over to begin proceedings. Stirling continued his big-hitting by smashing two fours and a six off Henry Bookes’ second over.
In the third over, Dooley dismissed opener Mohammad Waseem. Eoin Morgan began by hitting Dooley for a boundary. Meanwhile, Stirling accelerated the run flow, scoring two sixes off Carlos Brathwaite in the fourth over.

Romario Shepherd and Azam Khan took on Henry Brookes, who bowled the eighth over. On the fifth ball, Shepherd got caught by Sikandar Raza.
When Fuller, who bowled the last over, got Azam Khan out, it became evident that New York Strikers would finish below the 100-run mark.
Jordan Thompson hit a six off the last ball over extra cover to ensure a total of 99 for 6 in 10 overs and remain unbeaten on 15.
The Chennai Braves had a poor start, losing opener Dawid Malan on the second ball of the first over from Akeal Hosein. The experienced Ravi Rampaul joined hands with Hosein, who got the better of Adam Rossington in the third over.
New York Strikers took a firm grip on the match when Thompson clean-bowled skipper Sikander Raza with the first ball of the fifth over. At the halfway mark, the Braves struggled for runs, with the score reading a mere 20/4.
Although Romario Shepherd conceded nine runs in the sixth, the seventh over saw Ross Whiteley fall to Thompson. The Braves’ first six came only in the seventh over, when Fuller hit Thomspon over mid-wicket. After Fuller departed, caught by Pollard at long-on, Chennai‘s score read 38/6 in 7.2 overs.
Needing 53 runs in 12 balls, UAE’s young and promising batsman Vriitya Aravind joined Carlos Brathwaite. Aravind began by hitting Rampaul for two boundaries. Both Brathwaite and Aravind remained unbeaten on 22 and 18, respectively. The Chennai Braves ended with 72/6.
