Former England batter Ian Bell, who is currently the assistant coach of The Chennai Braves in the Abu Dhabi T10 Season 6, is full of praise for Sikandar Raza and his supportive presence in the dressing room.

Sikandar Raza, who was duly rewarded for his all-round performance in the recently concluded T20 World Cup by being named in the Team of the Tournament, is Chennai Braves’ captain for the ongoing campaign.

When asked about how influential it is to have the Zimbabwean on his side, Bell revealed his thoughts about the 36-year-old.

“He has been brilliant. I think to be in the team of the tournament for the T20 World Cup alongside some world-class players is an incredible achievement.

“He is such a positive person. Fantastic with the ball and has a lovely skillset. To see him really close up now is really great. He is really skillful and is able to move the ball both ways,” he added.

Leading Zimbabwe, Raza finished the marquee event with 219 runs and 10 wickets in eight matches.

He also played a crucial part in his team’s stunning one-run victory over Pakistan in Group 2, getting three massive wickets.

Ian Bell, who was a member of England’s memorable 2005 Ashes-winning side, also spoke highly of Raza’s mentorship and his ability to lead a side.

“[He is] a really passionate guy about the game.

“Tactically knows his stuff as well. Helps the bowlers in team meetings, helps them be clear on their [bowling] plans. He is a good friend to have around,” stated Bell.

Under Sikandar Raza, The Chennai Braves have won two games so far. The skipper has bagged five wickets in as many matches at a respectable economy of 8.20 and has made some decent contributions with the bat as well.

Next up, The Chennai Braves will lock horns against Team Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
