The Bangla Tigers excellent run was cut short after they went down to the Deccan Gladiators by seven runs in the Eliminator at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Saturday night.

Bangla Tigers captain Thisara Perera said that his side will pick up the pieces from their defeat in the Eliminator and will look to end their Aldar Properties Abu Dhabi T10 League campaign with a third-place finish.

The Bangla Tigers turned out to be one of the surprise packages of the competition by progressing past the Super League stage and into the playoffs. But their run was cut short after they went down to the Deccan Gladiators by seven runs in the Eliminator at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Saturday night.

The franchise, rebranded from Bengal Tigers to the Bangla Tigers and under new ownership, will now feature in the playoff for third.

Perera said that they didn’t execute their plans well in the Eliminator but were now looking to finish off with third.

“We planned pretty well but didn’t execute it. That’s the main thing. It went wrong for us in terms of execution,” said Perera.

“I would like to thank my teammates because they helped me a lot during the games as well as off the field. We are staying like a family. I want to thank my teammates and support staff. I just want to say to our Bangladesh fans here and back in Bangladesh for supporting us. I think we did a really good job during the first round and the second round as well. We just missed out on getting another chance for the final,” he added.

UAE player Chirag Suri was impressed on the night with a 13-ball 25 with three sixes and Perera predicted a great future for the youngster.

“He has a good future. He is gelling with us really nicely, as a friend and as a brother. I think he has a nice future. He did pretty well today, Hopefully, he can do something special in the next few years,” felt Perera.

Perera said that they will give it their all once again in their quest for third.

“We have another chance where we can finish third. We will give our 200 percent for that match as well. I know everyone in my team have given their absolute best,” said the Sri Lankan.
