Chris Lynn defied the laws of physics and came ever so close to firing the first-ever century of the Aldar Properties Abu Dhabi T10 League. But the Queenslander blitzed the highest individual score to pilot the Maratha Arabians to their second victory on Monday night.

The Arabians’ captain belted the leather in anger to conjure an unbeaten 30-ball 91 as his side inflicted a 24-run defeat, Team Abu Dhabi’s first.

Lynn was the master of all he surveyed at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, his scintillating knock generously filled with nine boundaries and an astonishing seven sixes,

The Arabians, it seems, have a penchant for top scores with the previous best being 87 not out by Alex Hales last season.

Lynn said it would have been nice to score a ton but was not too despondent about it. “Look, obviously when you get a bit closer to the end, you want to get to the 100. But the guy at the other end is also hitting boundaries as well. Yes, it would have been nicer to score the first 100 of the T10 but then that is the way it goes. I will try and get there, maybe get another opportunity to do it,” said Lynn.

Moeen Ali, Team Abu Dhabi captain, said that his bowlers will learn from this and come back better from the experience.

“We have a good bowling attack and I think it is great for our bowling attack to come across someone like him today on a very good wicket. I’m sure the guys will learn and move forward,” felt Moeen.
